Pink is a reminder, action is the goal
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Supporting awareness doesn’t have to mean wearing pink ribbons — it can be as simple as reaching out to a loved one or taking preventive steps yourself. Take time to talk to one another about the importance of health, steps to reduce risk and the value of early detection in fighting this disease.
- Perform regular self-examinations. 40% of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump.
- Talk to your provider about when you should have a mammogram. If you’re 40+ and a member of the Concordia Health Plan, your preventive mammogram is covered at 100%.
- Schedule a mammogram. Your healthcare navigator, Quantum*, can help you.
