Caring for others starts with caring for yourself
Caring for others at any stage of life is both meaningful and demanding. While it’s an honorable role, it also can feel exhausting and thankless. Remember to take time to rest and recharge — caring for yourself helps prevent burnout and keeps you strong for those who depend on you.
Here are some general tips for making your soul–care a priority, as well as other resources from our EAP partners at Evernorth Confide.
- Keep an eye out for indicators of unhealthy stress levels. These can occur within our physical, cognitive, emotional and/or behavioral realms.
- Rest — even short amounts of respite can be very beneficial.
- Laugh — watch a fun, light-hearted movie or listen to a podcast.
- Focus on what you truly have control over.
- Structure your time and set realistic expectations of that time.
- Seek support — an Evernorth Confide Behavioral Health Navigator is available 24/7 to assist you with connecting to a licensed support professional. Connect via the app, web or phone.
