Defy age by putting these practices into play

by Wellness Champion, Concordia Plans

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

Even when life seems hectic, remember to make time for your health and well–being. It sets the foundation for healthy aging and models good habits for your loved ones.

Aging optimally isn’t about adding years to your life or looking younger, it’s about adding life to your years. No matter your age, staying active, building a relationship with your care provider and practicing healthy habits — physical, mental, spiritual and financial — are key to lifelong well–being.

There’s no magic pill or quick fix. Optimal health comes from finding and maintaining the habits that work best for you. And it’s never too late to start — small changes at any stage of life can boost your health, longevity and quality of life.

Nourish your body and mind

Use the magic of movement

  • Regular physical activity is THE magical elixir for keeping your body and mind healthy.
  • Decades of research proves movement can support everything from improved energy levels to memory and brain protection to reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
  • Build a routine that truly works for YOU!

Befriend to be well

  • Connecting with others can cut your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and dementia. It also reduces stress hormones — especially if it includes a good laugh! It’s never too late to create more connection.
  • Keep current bonds strong by minimizing distractions during conversations. Put your phone or device aside.
  • Find an opportunity to serve.
  • Forge new friendships through shared interests.
  • Lean into group activities that bring you joy.

There’s no one–size–fits–all approach to improving your long–term health. Although we’ve organized some suggestions by life stage, the guidance can apply at any age.
