Lack of motivation is often cited as one of the reasons people abandon their get-healthy plans. As of Jan. 1, consider yourself motivated.
Starting with the new year, you will have the opportunity to engage in Vitality Challenges, with the first challenge being to complete the Vitality Health Review. Participation is voluntary. You will earn 500 points for completing your VHR once per program year. You can earn an additional 250 points by completing the VHR within the first 90 days of the new program year, which will start Jan. 1.
When you log in to Vitality on or after Jan. 1, you will see a pop-up window that will explain Vitality Challenges and ask if you want to consent to having your name and participation statistics within each challenge be available online and shared with other Concordia Health Plan members competing in the challenges. You must give your consent to participate in the challenges, and you can opt-out at any time.
But the excitement with Vitality in 2018 goes beyond that. Feel it with the continuation of two programs from 2017 that could save you up to $350.
The first is a $100 subsidy available beginning Jan. 1 for a fitness device, such as a Fitbit. Simply log into your Vitality account when the year turns and click on the “Fitness Devices” link through the “Rewards” tab.
While you’re under that “Rewards” tab, click on “Wellness Rebates.” There you will find details about a $250 gym membership rebate. If you’re a member or become a member of a participating gym and complete 50 workouts, you’ll see $250 come back into your healthier hands.
So if a little competition can help keep you motivated … if a fitness device can get you high-stepping toward better health … if a more affordable gym membership is what you need to fit in that extra workout — consider yourself challenged.
