A spider bite on my husband’s shoulder is what recently prompted me to use the Doctor On Demand online tool. I had previously set up an account, so when I or someone in my family needs Doctor On Demand, all I have to do is go online to doctorondemand.com (or use the app) to have a video visit with a doctor.
My husband signed in, clicked on the “See a Medical Doctor Now” link. From there, he briefly described the reason for his visit and symptoms, indicated his preferred pharmacy, and within 15 minutes he was video chatting with a doctor from our family room. Using the video feature on his phone, he showed the doctor the bite, which she diagnosed as a brown recluse spider bite. The doctor prescribed the appropriate antibiotic by sending a digital prescription to the pharmacy. Twenty minutes later, he was taking the medicine and on his way to healing.
It’s that simple.
When he disconnected from the video, my husband felt he had received one-on-one, quality care from a board-certified doctor who gave him immediate treatment in the comfort of our home. He never had to leave the house, except to pick up his prescription.
When you use Doctor On Demand, your visit cost as little as a $10 copay.* So not only could you have a minimal copay, you won’t have to sit in a waiting room at an Urgent Care facility or try to see if your doctor can fit you in to his or her already full schedule.
*Members enrolled in a high deductible health plan (Option HDHP, Choice 1500, Choice 2000 or Choice 3000) will pay $44 for a Doctor on Demand visit and that cost will apply to their deductible or coinsurance.
