Ordering Medication

Procedures for Requesting Long-Term Medications – Missionaries and Members traveling outside the U.S. and needing more than a ninety-day supply of medication. Note: Prior authorization is required for filling more than a 90-day supply of any drug.

  • An authorization will be sent to Express Scripts to fill both the initial prescription(s) and refills on one Rx order up to a maximum of a one year supply. Authorization must be sent from Concordia Plan Services prior to Express Scripts receiving the prescription request (or they will only send the 90-day supply).
  • Separate copays will apply to each refill as well as the initial order.
  • The member should submit the prescription directly to Express Scripts after notification is given to Pam Buxbaum. Do not send the authorization and prescription together, as it will be separated once it arrives at Express Scripts.
  • Since it is illegal for Express Scripts to ship drugs outside the country, prescriptions must be shipped to a U.S. mailing address. Missionaries who are in the U.S. on furlough can order medications in advance to take back with them when leaving the country.
  • Prescription drugs purchased by the member outside the U.S. should be submitted to Express Scripts as a paper claim for processing. Please include the pharmacy receipt (itemized bill) and rate of exchange applicable to the date of the bill. You will be reimbursed for any amounts beyond the applicable copay/coinsurance listed above. (Click here for the Express Scripts Out of Country Claim Submission Form)
