1. I am a disabled member and have been enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B. Do I have to take Part B?

Yes, you need to take Part B when you first become eligible because of our non-duplication of benefits provision. If you have specific questions, please contact our office at 1-888-927-7526, ext. 6870.

2. I am enrolled in Medicare because of (either) my disability (or) age 65. Who is the primary payer?

In most cases, Medicare would be the primary payer with Concordia Health Plan (CHP) paying second because your CHP coverage is not being provided through any current active work or employment.

3. I am a disabled member with coverage under the Concordia Health Plan (CHP) and Medicare. I am also covered as a dependent of my spouse through his/her employer. Who should be paying first, second & last?

Medicare indicates that if there is “any other coverage through current active work/employment”, then that group health coverage is the primary payer, Medicare is the secondary payer and then the CHP is last.

4. I received a Coordination of Benefits questionnaire from Medicare and would like to be sure I am completing it properly. who can I contact about this?

Contact our office directly at 1-888-927-7526 and ask for our specialist handling Coordination of Benefits Data Match Questionnaire.

5. I am having problems with the payer position. The CHP paid as the primary payer when it shouldn't have, and now Medicare has automatically changed my status on their records to reflect Medicare as the secondary payer. How can this be corrected?

Please call us at 1-888-927-7526, ext. 6870 so that we may resolve the issue for you.

6.

I have a disabled child covered as my dependent in the Concordia Health Plan (CHP) who also has Medicare because of a disability. Is the CHP or Medicare the primary payer?

If you are covered in the CHP through active full-time work/employment, CHP is the primary payer and Medicare is secondary. However, if your CHP coverage is not through current active full-time work/employment, Medicare is primary and CHP is the secondary payer.

7. I am in the Concordia Health Plan (CHP) and cover my spouse as my dependent. My spouse has been enrolled in Medicare due to (either) disability (or) age 65, who is the primary payer?

If your coverage in the Concordia Health Plan (CHP) is currently through active full-time work/employment, the CHP is the primary payer and Medicare is secondary. However, if your coverage is not through current active full-time employment, meaning your status with the CHP is disabled, retired, or on a CHP extension, then Medicare is the primary payer and the CHP is secondary.

8. I have Concordia Health Plan (CHP) coverage and have been enrolled in Medicare due to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Who is the primary payer?

CHP is the primary payer for the first 30 months that you qualify for Medicare because of ESRD. Medicare becomes the primary payer beginning with the 31st month and the CHP is secondary.

9. I have Concordia Health Plan (CHP) coverage and have been enrolled in Medicare due to Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS–Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Who is the primary payer?

You should contact Medicare directly at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). Please make sure when you speak with Medicare that they clearly understand whether your CHP coverage is through current active work/employment. After speaking with Medicare, please contact us at 1-888-927-7526, ext. 6870 to inform us as to what was determined by Medicare.
