Husband
and Wife Both LCMS Employed
A husband
and wife, who are both employed full-time by the same or different
employers participating in the Concordia Plans, must be enrolled
separately as workers.
In the
Concordia
Health Plan, a person who is eligible to be enrolled as
a worker cannot be enrolled as a dependent of his/her spouse.
This separate enrollment avoids the possible inequity of an
employer paying for health coverage for a spouse who is employed
by another LCMS employer. Eligible dependent children may
be enrolled by either spouse, but not both.
In the
Concordia Disability
and Survivor Plan and the Concordia
Retirement Plan, each spouse is enrolled as a worker AND
also enrolled as a dependent of the other spouse. Eligible
dependent children are enrolled under both parents. Thus,
if a dependent dies, a death benefit would be payable under
both parents’ membership.
