Probationary
Period
An
employer can designate a probationary period for their workers
and wait to enroll such workers until after the probationary
period expires. However, for Concordia Plan Services purposes,
the period cannot exceed 90 days. In order for Concordia Plan
Services to honor the probationary period, an employer must
complete a Certification
of Probationary Period form and have it on file with the
Concordia Plan Services office. The form allows an employer
to have different designated periods for different classes
of workers (clerical staff, day-care staff, etc.). |
The
probationary period, if adopted, must be applied equally for
all workers in the specified class of employees. An employer
who delays enrollment of a worker until a probationary period
is completed must provide a written copy of such probationary
policy to Concordia Plan Services. If Concordia Plan Services
does not have a copy of the employer’s probationary
period on file, it will be assumed that no probationary policy
applies with regards to Concordia Plan Services. The Certification
of Probationary Period is also available by calling the
Concordia Plan Services office toll-free 1-888-927-7526. |
