Burn Calories, Lose Weight

 

A person can easily lose a pound a week by eating 300 fewer calories than are needed each day and by increasing physical activity to burn an extra 200 calories each day.

The best way to get started burning those extra calories is to walk. Walking is easy, free, good for the heart, lungs, and bones, plus walking is safe for most people. Battery-operated step-counters (about a $20-$30 purchase) can help motivate you to walk an extra 2,000 steps a day which is the equivalent of walking a mile and burning 100 calories. If you’re not at the point of purchasing a step counter, use the chart below to help you roughly calculate the calories burned for different activities. Consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
