We Studied, We Asked, We Listened, We Responded

 

Before making changes to the Concordia Plans, we conducted a thorough review and feedback process that included:

  • Putting together a task force of LCMS leaders, employers, and workers to assess all potential changes.
  • Conducting interviews and focus groups to learn about the needs of LCMS employers, workers, and retirees.
  • Identifying the needs that are not being met through the current benefits programs and finding ways to address those needs through our benefits package.
  • Looking at the plans of other churches and organizations to evaluate what we offer and ensure that we provide competitive and affordable benefits to our Church workers.

 

The Concordia Health Plan is an Efficient Benefit for Both Employers and Workers

  • 90-94 cents of each dollar is targeted to pay medical, prescription drug, dental, and mental health/substance abuse claims
  • 6-10 cents of each dollar is targeted to pay administrative costs

 

Other Health Plans*

  • 75 cents of each dollar goes to pay medical, prescription drug, dental, and mental health/substance abuse claims
  • 25 cents of each dollar generally goes toward profit, administrative costs, corporate overhead, commissions, and marketing expenses.
