New Name, New Look

You probably know the name Worker Benefit Plans. And, we’re confident you also recognize the name Concordia Plans, which reflects the names of the specific benefit plans offered by the LCMS. For more than 30 years, Worker Benefit Plans has been the name of the organization responsible for providing and administering the Concordia Health Plan, Concordia Retirement Plan, and Concordia Disability and Survivor Plan for LCMS employers and their workers.

With benefit plan and administration changes planned for 2006, and in the interest of simplicity and clarity, we’re changing our name—from Worker Benefit Plans to Concordia Plan Services— and taking on a new logo and a new look for our communication materials. We wanted to be certain that our name related closely to our benefit plans. In focus groups with employers, workers, and retirees, we heard that the new name, logo, and look for our communication materials were more inviting and up to date. We want to do everything we can to make our materials easy for employers and workers to use.

Our new name, Concordia Plan Services, not only links us clearly to the Concordia Plans we provide, but also emphasizes the expanded services we anticipate introducing in the future.

Our tagline, Your LCMS Benefits Partner, reflects the partnership we have with LCMS employers, workers, and retirees. As The Church’s Plan, we support you in the ministry of spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The cross included prominently in our logo is the Synod’s cross. This is because we offer The Church’s Plan—providing benefits tailored to LCMS workers.

We have a new look for Concordia Plan Services materials. With our new name, we wanted a consistent, updated, inviting look for our communications.
