The Church's Plan...A Closer Look

 

Concordia Plan Services will provide more information on The Church’s Plan to all LCMS employers within the next few weeks. In brief, The Church’s Plan provides a package of benefits designed specifically to meet the needs of LCMS workers. The Church’s Plan is a comprehensive benefits package made up of:

 

Concordia Health Plan

  • Medical plan coverage at various option levels, as currently provided and looking to add other coverage options in the future
  • Mental health and substance abuse coverage
  • Prescription drug coverage
  • Dental coverage

 

Concordia Disability and Survivor Plan

  • Protection in the case of disability due to illness or injury
  • Protection for survivors in the event of death

 

Concordia Retirement Plan

  • Primary pension benefit, as currently offered
  • Supplemental Retirement Account, as now provided
  • Retiree Medical Supplement (NEW)
    • Additional benefit, based on years of service, to assist with post-retirement medical expenses

 

Concordia Retirement Savings Plan (NEW)

  • Workers enroll and save; employers match a portion of worker savings
  • This is a 403(b) Tax Deferred Savings Plan for nonprofits—similar to a 401(k) plan.

 

More details about the specifics of The Church’s Plan will be coming to employers in the next few weeks and then to workers in the next few months. In the interest of flexibility for employers, there will be other benefits package options as well.
